Practice makes perfect. Neil Armstrong gets familiar with landing a Lunar Module on the moon via the Lunar Landing Research Vehicle, 1967. Does that flying machine ever look precarious. They took off vertically via a single jet engine mounted on a gimbal. It was adjusted to cancel 5/6ths of the LLRV’s weight. One LLRV & 2 of the later Lunar Landing Training Vehicles were destroyed during training, including one nearly fatal test flight by Mr. Armstrong. Yet after ejecting to safety with mere seconds to spare, Neil brushed himself off & went back to his desk to complete office work. This man’s nerves did not rattle!
